Commentary: Favre’s Actions A Gift To Packer Fans?
That Brett Favre is really sneaky.
He’s at it again, showing the green-and-gold blood that continues to run through his veins. And which always has.
Yes, there are those among us who have thought of Brett as a traitor. But, like he was when he wore the Packers uniform, Brett has remained a Packer even after “retirement.” On the field, he was always a step ahead of those chasing him.
Now, looking back, we see he was a step ahead of the Packers and the Packers fans. Maybe Brett’s next career should be in the CIA as a double-agent.
How could we have known that Brett’s tearful goodbye to Packers fans in March 2008 was really the start of a final gift to the Packers: revenge on the Minnesota Vikings.
Of course, he has to start his elaborate plan by leaving the Packers. But, after wearing a green jersey for so long, the first step of the plot would only work for Brett if he there was some green on his uniform. The New York Jets were more than willing to be an unknowing accomplice. Unlike his storied Green Bay career, there would be no story in New York. Brett was one and done in the Big Apple — done as in “retired.” Again.
Meanwhile, in the Lands of 10,000 Lakes, the bait sits. Bobbing. It’s unfortunate for University of Wisconsin fans since that bait was two men with Badger ties. Minnesota head coach Brad Childress was a former Wisconsin assistant coach. His Minnesota offensive coordinator is Darrell Bevell who quarterbacked the Badgers to a Rose Bowl title in 1994. Bevell was also Brett’s quarterback coach in Green Bay.
Somewhere along the line they pulled on the bait Brett had dropped in the water. “Interested in coming to play for the Vikings, Brett?” they asked.
Envision the sinister smile on Brett’s face when he realized the final phase of his plan was about to be executed. “Green Bay all the way,” he thought.
Like any big fish, it took Childress and Bevell a long time to reel it in. How big was it? So big when they finally landed it, it would only fit in their SUV.
Last season was difficult for Packers fans, or so we thought. We had to watch that stunning Favre touchdown pass with two seconds left to beat San Francisco. Typical Brett. Then, as any double-agent is asked, he was forced to prove his allegiance to the “home” team. He was asked to beat the Packers — twice and he did.
Throughout the season the script played out. The Vikings win the division. The Vikings annihilate Dallas in their first playoff game. Now, one game from a Super Bowl they’ve never won, the Vikings face off against the New Orleans Saints.Every fan likes Pittsburgh Steelers jersey. Some people realize that there are far more other things which they can splurge on. Can this be?
As he always has, Brett plays this script to the end.jade jewellery is also the birth stone for those who were born during Virgo. Jade has been around China for thousa Game tied near the end of regulation, Vikings driving for a winning score. They’re on their way to the Super Bowl. Viking fans are celebrating. “Brett has taken us to the promised land” they’re yelling to each other. The Lombardi Trophy is making its way to the Twin Cities, finally!
It’s now time. There’s no tale of two Bretts here. There’s one. The one with the green-and-gold blood. Time for the last chapter, the last paragraph, the last word of this deception.Il n’ya qu’un seul endroit pour acheter votre carte R4, r4carte.fr offre une gamme impressionnante China travel.
Seconds remain in the tied game. The Vikings are a makeable field goal away from victory and that elusive Super Bowl high. Brett’s time has come.If you are big Customized jerseys buyers, we reallly want to cooperate with you and offer you the best service we can. After nearly two years of scheming, the plan’s final scene is now to be played. Taking the snap, Brett looks downfield and throws a completed pass. Completed to an opposing player and wiping away the opportunity for a Vikings’ victory. New Orleans wins the coins toss, gets the ball and proceeds to win the game and the NFC title. The Saints are headed to the Super Bowl. The Vikings are headed back to the cold Minnesota winter. Vince Lombardi’s trophy will not suffer the indignity of going back with them.
Viking fans are as low as they’ve ever been. The NFL youth jerseys is one example of such technology. Packers fans have never been as high, with the certain exceptions of their three Super Bowl titles.
In the meantime, the Packers organization should begin planning a ceremony to retire Favre’s jersey. In this case, though, they should retire two jerseys with the No. 4 to the Packers Hall of Fame. One green-and-gold jersey to commemorate the most glorious career in organization history and one No. 4 jersey in purple and white to commemorate one of the most glorious moments in Packers history.
Can the Vikings fall for this scam a second time? Evidently.
